One month. 50,000 words. Can I do it?
I heard about NaNoWriMo from my friend Sidney and it intrigued me so much that I signed up. It’s a novel writing challenge where in the month of November your goal is to write 50,000 words. A.k.a, a short novel. I’ve never written a novel before. I’ve thought about it so many times but my brain has never come up with such a fantastic, full-fledged idea that my hands never took anything down. I’ve tried writing stories before, and have finished a select few, but to be honest, I don’t think any of them are very good or brilliant.
So why in the world am I doing this challenge? I will not feel satisfied with my life until I have actually tried to write a novel. It doesn’t matter if I fail, it doesn’t matter if the story is horrible. All that matters is that I try, and I try really hard.
So I’d like to encourage others who are interested in writing or have tried writing a novel before to join me. So what if we fail? We can just try again next year.
If you’ve already done this challenge and have some inspiring tips, please let me know. I’m sure I could use them. I both look forward to the challenge and am scared to death of it. Guess I’ll just have to plow through and see how it goes!
